Meal Plan Week Four
It’s a cold and snowy day, so I’ve planned meals for these kinds of days! I’m including my recipe for Carrot Soup for you guys. In 2005 I attended the University of Montreal. I was newly married and I felt like I needed to impress my husband with delicious, home cooked meals often because we could no longer pop over to our parents’ homes for food (the days of impressing the husband are now LONG gone BTW!). Every couple of days I would phone home for a recipe and this carrot soup was one that we lived on during the cold winter there. I hope that you love it as much as we do!
MONDAY - Carrot Soup (link here) with fresh buns. Put the remaining dinner buns in the freezer to use on Saturday.
TUESDAY - Ground Beef Tacos - tortillas, ground beef, shredded cheese, tomatoes, avocado, lettuce, sour cream, salsa. Feel free to add other toppings; these are the ones I’ve added in the grocery list.
WEDNESDAY - Sausage and White Bean Gnocchi from Supper Studio (link to order here).
THURSDAY - Slowcooker Pulled Pork with Coleslaw. Lori added bacon to hers if that’s something that your family would love.
FRIDAY - Fridge (or leftovers if you don’t call your leftovers “fridge”).
SATURDAY - Beef and Butternut Squash Chili from Supper Studio. Serve with sour cream, and buns on the side.
SUNDAY - Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup. If you have a fabulous recipe for homemade tomato soup, please use that deliciousness. I planned to use canned tomato soup here because Sundays are always full of hockey for us, and the day needs more hours in it.
Grocery List:
1 lb ground beef
2 lbs pork shoulder - this will be used on Thursday, so bag and freeze it when you get home.
1 1/2 cups cream
one block cheddar cheese
sour cream
2 lbs carrots
2 large potatoes
2 onions
1 granny smith apple
small bag of coleslaw
head of romaine lettuce
2 tomatoes
2 avocado
2 L Chicken broth
2 1/2 cups beef broth (you can use dried bouillon for this if you like)
2 cans tomato soup
bottle of applewood BBQ sauce, or any other BBQ sauce if you’ve got some in the fridge
5 1/2 oz can of tomato paste
saltine crackers for tomato soup
coleslaw dressing
package of taco seasoning
salsa (for tacos)
package of tortillas
loaf of bread - bread freezes really well, so buy more if you have the room!
bag of hamburger buns
a dozen dinner buns
Pantry items: (if you don’t have these, add them to your grocery list!)
garlic
hot sauce (franks or tabasco)
butter
bay leaf
flour (or cornstarch as a thickener)
chili powder
worcestershire
salt and pepper
We hope this makes your life a little bit easier! As always, let us know if you have any questions.
